The Subaru Love Promise® is our vision to show love and respect to all people at every interaction with Subaru. Subaru and our retailers believe every day gives us an opportunity to positively impact the world around us – by how we support each other, our customers, and our community. Together, we are committed to making the world a better place.
The Love Promise is what makes Subaru More Than a Car Company® and a Subaru retailer More Than a Car Dealer®. It sets a standard that we are committed to living every day.
Providing comfort, hope, and confidence to children in urgent need
Subaru and its retailers partner with Operation Warm® to visit local homeless shelters and support agencies to provide children with brand-new necessities like coats, shoes, and socks.
These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child’s mental and emotional well-being.
Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have supported over 1 million children and adults in urgent need nationwide.
At Subaru, we believe what we leave behind is a reflection of who we are. That’s why Subaru and our retailers partner with the Arbor Day Foundation (TM) to provide and distribute 100,000 regionally appropriate trees across the country. We’re proud to establish the largest corporate tree distribution ever. Through this and other Subaru Loves the Earth initiatives, Subaru and our retailers have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees.
Subaru believes we should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. That’s why for over 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with Blood Cancer United® and our local hospital to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by our employees and customers, to support our community members living with cancer. Through our combined efforts during this partnership, we have supported over 550,000 cancer patients nationwide. Together, we are proud to be Blood Cancer United’s largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers have supported more than 950,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why retailers like us partner with our local animal welfare organization every October to provide direct financial assistance through a grant distributed by the ASPCA® and host pet events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, Subaru has donated over $70 million, supporting the rescue, adoption, and health of over 700,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
Subaru and its retailers believe in giving back to our communities. That's why for every new vehicle sold or leased during the Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru and its retailers, like us, makes a donation to national charities that our owners care about and to over 2,700 local charities where Subaru owners live and work.
Now, after 17 years, Subaru and our retailers have donated nearly $320 million to charity all to give back and to make the world a better place.
We at Albany Subaru are dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service to all of its customers, and to creating a warm and welcoming environment that fosters a sense of community. In addition, we are committed to supporting a wide range of local charities and organizations, including those that focus on environmental conservation, education, and health and wellness. Subaru and Albany Subaru believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.

At Blood Cancer United, the month of June is one we look forward to all year, because it means our friends at Subaru are back at it. This year, through Subaru Loves to Care, the team at Albany Subaru brought warm blankets and handwritten messages of hope to patients at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. In my work with patients and families across Northern California, I get to see what a moment like that means up close. Treatment can be cold and lonely, and a soft blanket with a few kind words from someone nearby reminds a patient that their community is in their corner. We're grateful to Albany Subaru for showing up for blood cancer patients in the East Bay, and we're proud to call them a partner.

The girls and boys really loved the jackets. The parents were really appreciative of the jackets. The kids had seen my staff bringing in the boxes and already were excited to pick out their favorite colors. They were so excited to take pictures in their jackets so i uploaded the picture that really shower their excitement and gratitude.

Our team and customers spent a Saturday morning collecting litter along the Eastshore shoreline, sorting recyclables, and tracking the most common debris so future cleanups improve, followed by a community picnic that made new friends out of volunteers from every corner of Albany

Albany Subaru partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to host a weekend tree giveaway where families picked up native saplings and learned simple tips for watering, mulching, and long term care, turning our lot into a mini nursery and sending hundreds of young trees home across Albany and North Berkeley.

For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Albany, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Albany Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Albany Subaru have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. For the past several years, Albany Subaru has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Alta Bates Summit Medical Center through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. The partnership has involved delivering 80 comfy blankets, patient care kits, and messages of hope to cancer patients. This initiative has spread so much hope, love, and warmth to cancer patients in this local community! On June 12th, Jason Tse and others from Albany Subaru personally delivered these items for staff to hand out to patients in treatment. The hospital staff were incredibly grateful for the gracious donation and it was such a beautiful moment when the staff handed them out to patients. It was such a heartwarming experience for everyone who attended the blanket drop off! Thank you Subaru! :)

As part of our Subaru Loves the Earth® initiative, we at Albany Subaru have integrated TerraCycle Zero Waste Boxes™ into our store, providing an innovative solution for difficult-to-process waste that typically ends up in landfills. These boxes focus on collecting specific waste streams, such as disposable cups and lids, coffee, tea, and creamer capsules, and snack wrappers, which cannot be recycled through regular municipal recycling programs. By incorporating TerraCycle Zero Waste Boxes at our store, we are taking a proactive approach to waste management and encouraging customers to dispose of their hard-to-recycle waste responsibly. This initiative not only supports Subaru's commitment to sustainability but also empowers our local community to participate in the company's environmental efforts and make a lasting impact on preserving our planet.

On October 9, 2022, Albany Subaru hosted the 8th annual Subaru Loves Pets Pet Adoption Event. In addition to being a fantastic partner in our event, Albany Subaru has always allowed our puppies and kittens to take over the showroom for the day. Over 10 cats and dogs found their permanent homes from the event despite the ongoing pandemic! We have always enjoyed working with Albany Subaru, and we're extremely pleased with the outcome from this year. Looking forward to our next event!

Albany Subaru has always been an excellent partner and sponsor of the annual Solano Stroll street fair, which takes place in September. This event is a great opportunity for Albany Subaru to connect with the local community and showcase their latest models while also supporting a great cause. Visitors were able to explore the latest Subaru models, speak with knowledgeable staff, and learn about the latest features and technology that Subaru offers. Additionally, the dealership will have a booth where the visitors can learn more about the dealership's community engagement. It's a great opportunity to enjoy a day out with the family while also supporting a great cause and learning more about the dealership.

Albany Subaru is proud to partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley. As part of this partnership, we made donations to LLS and delivered blankets and Message of Hope cards to cancer patients at the medical center, to provide comfort during their treatment. Additionally, we provided arts & crafts kits to the hospital that were distributed to children, to provide a fun and creative outlet for them during their stay. We understand that cancer can be a difficult and challenging journey for patients and their families, and we wanted to do our part to support and uplift them.

On October 20th 2019, at the 5th annual Subaru Loves Pets Pet Adoption Event at Albany Subaru. Albany Subaru has always been great partner in the event, and have been really accommodating in allowing us to have puppies and kittens all over their showroom for the day. On the day of the event, we had customers waiting over an hour before the event even started, and we ended up finding homes for over 20 cats and dogs! Partnering with Albany Subaru has always been great! And we are more than excited with this year's results! Very much looking forward to our next event!

On October 20th Albany Subaru had its annual free pet adoption day in concert with our shelter, Animal Refuge Response. Animal Refuge Response is a no kill shelter, committed to finding loving homes for 100% of its animals. On this Saturday at the dealership, over a dozen prospective parents were lined up in front of our dealership waiting for us to open. 30 minutes after opening, 6 pets were adopted and we ended the day finding homes for 17 dogs and 3 cats, 20 in all! In addition, Albany Subaru donated over $10,000.00 to our shelter partner for needed supplies and medical treatments for their animals in need. Blythe, the shelter founder called later and told us she was able to home an additional 6 pets through follow up, great news! For your enjoyment , we have included a picture of a particularly happy new pet parent. The little girl pictured was one of the early visitors to our store---she picked out her puppy but had to go home to get permission from her mother---3 hours later we see her running down the sidewalk and into the showroom, and, her puppy was there waiting for her, tail a wagging! If you missed this year's event , never fear, we will be back next year and who knows....maybe we go for 35+ adoptions in 2020!

On Tuesday, August 13, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society campaign manager Greg Bedard joined several staff members from Alta Bates, including Luanne Ridgley, to begin the distribution of blankets to patients suffering from cancer at Alta Bates in Berkeley, California. Dozens of blankets have now been made available for patients by Albany Subaru, which has partnered with LLS and its East Bay Light The Night campaign as part of the Subaru “loves to care” program. Staff escorted Mr. Bedard around the oncology wing of the hospital and shared some of their experiences working at one of the largest hospitals in the Bay Area. Alta Bates will make the stylish blue and white blankets available to patients as needed during the summer and fall. East Bay Light The Night is held annually in Walnut Creek at Civic Park. This year’s event will commence on the evening of Saturday, October 12, with registration at 5:00 p.m. and the event ceremony, including “Circle of Survivors”, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Approximately 2,500 members of the East Bay community will show their support for those who have struggled with blood cancer, culminating in a walk with lanterns around downtown Walnut Creek. For more information about the walk, please go to: https://www.lightthenight.org/events/east-bay

On July 26th, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Greater Bay Area Chapter partnered with Albany Subaru to deliver blankets, arts and craft kits, and dozens of message of hope cards written by the customers of Albany Subaru to Alta Bates. The display in the Albany Subaru lobby was impressive, and was one of the best displays of the blankets and cards seen by the LLS team. The display was located by the front door, making it easily accessible for customers to see and write their message of hope cards. Jason, the contact at Albany Subaru, clearly put a lot of care and effort into the display and partnership with LLS. He also shared other ways that the dealership is involved in the community, showcasing their commitment to giving back. Upon arrival at Alta Bates, the LLS team was greeted by Bev and other doctors, nurses, and staff members. They were thrilled to receive the generous donation from Albany Subaru again, especially since last year the blankets were quickly distributed among patients. Albany Subaru's generosity and community involvement is greatly appreciated by the LLS and Alta Bates.

Thank you to Albany Subaru for teaming up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Greater Bay Area Chapter to help cancer patients! On July 26, LLS and Subaru staff met up at the Alta Bates Comprehensive Cancer Center in Berkeley to deliver 80 blankets, 10 arts & craft kits, and dozens of amazing messages of hope for patients going through treatment at the center. At the delivery, we were greeted by over a dozen excited nurses, social workers, and hospital staff – they were thrilled to be receiving these wonderful items! The nurses were especially touched by the many thoughtful messages of hope written by Albany Subaru customers, and the art kits were brought to the social work unit to help patients as they go through the emotional struggles of cancer treatment. We are so grateful to Albany Subaru for caring about cancer patients in the local community!

As part of the Subaru Love Promise - Subaru Loves the Earth Event, Albany Subaru partnered with the National Wildlife Foundation for the Butterfly Heroes Program to raise awareness and education on the declining population of the monarch butterflies. Creating a monarch and pollinator habitat is a wonderful opportunity for observing one of nature’s most miraculous occurrences and the planter displayed on the showroom, that also happens to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat, connects our community of gardeners and kids, families, and schools alike to help the monarchs and other pollinators. The planter will be donated to Ocean View Elementary School after the event. Witnessing the unique transformation of the monarch butterfly is wonderfully intriguing for students and teachers alike.

On behalf of the Albany High School Mountain Biking Team, I would like to express my deep appreciation for the partnership with Albany Subaru. Each year, the dealership partners with our team to raise money at the Solano Avenue Stroll event. The dealership organizes a fundraiser through various giveaways and a raffle for a $200 fuel card, which draws a large number of attendees and generates a significant amount of support for the team. This year, the partnership was particularly successful, with the team raising a total of $1,500 thanks to Albany Subaru's efforts. The dealership's consistent support for the team is truly admirable and deeply appreciated. Their participation in the Solano Avenue Stroll each year is a fantastic opportunity to show their support for a local school team. The fundraising efforts that they undertake every year, such as the one they did this year, make a real difference to the team and we are extremely grateful for Albany Subaru's continued support. They have been a valuable partner and we look forward to many more successful collaborations in the future.

As the organizer of the Solano Avenue Stroll, I have to say that having Albany Subaru as a part of our event is truly a pleasure. Every year, they bring their entire vehicle lineup for attendees to check out, and they also go above and beyond by organizing a fundraiser for the Albany High School Mountain Biking Team. The raffles and giveaways they host are always a hit with attendees, and it is wonderful to see the community come together to support a local school team. On top of that, the sight of a 2016 Subaru Forester participating in the parade is always a crowd pleaser. I couldn't be happier to have Albany Subaru as a valued participant of our event and I would like to express my gratitude for their commitment to the community.

Albany Subaru donated a total of $20,000 to The Wong Family Fund at the Stanford University Cancer Center benefiting nurses in the infusion treatment area. The total amount raised came from $150 per new Subaru sold at Albany Subaru for the month of March, as well as a dollar-per-dollar match from owner John Nakamura. The creator of the fund is Kevin Wong, childhood best friend of John, who passed away recently from cancer. The fund was set up to allow nurses to further their education in the field they choose to pursue.

This would mark the third year of Albany Subaru's participation in the Arts & Green Festival in Albany. The event was hosted at Albany High School just blocks away from the dealership. The focus this year is on sustainability & the environment, and this would mark the second year of Albany Subaru's participation. They showcased the environmentally friendly Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid - the most fuel efficient All-wheel Drive Hybrid Crossover on the market. Students were very excited to learn that you could have a vehicle that's both very capable and environmentally responsible.

For the Subaru Loves the Earth E-Waste Recycling Event, Albany Subaru placed a collection box in the showroom to collect old electronics like TVs, computers & monitors. The event was publicized through social media and word-of-mouth and we were able to collect a full box of E-Waste which could have ended up in a landfill and polluting the environment. Albany Subaru is a strong supporter of proper disposal of waste as seen by the various recycling, compost and waste bins throughout the dealership.

Kevin Wong was struck with cancer in 2009. Despite his diagnosis, Kevin continued to work as the general manager of a nearby Subaru dealership. Well loved by his customers and staff, he barely missed a day of work. After five years of multiple operations, extensive treatment and slow and painful recoveries, Kevin's cancer unfortunately did not go into remission. When he knew the end was near, Kevin hoped to accomplish one more thing - show his appreciation for the nurses at the Infusion Center at Stanford Cancer Center ITA. These nurses primarily care for Stage 3 and Stage 4 patients through the roughest part of their treatments. A shining light for these patients, forever present through the darkest days, a constant comfort and giver of encouragement. For these nurses, everyday is hard, but they always answer the bell. The Wong Family Foundation at Stanford Health Care was formed, where 100% of the funds benefit the nurses to pursue educational opportunities, wellness seminars and team building exercises. In short, a fund to thank these special nurses for their dedication and care. Albany Subaru has chosen them as our local charity since the beginning of the Hometown Charity program, and have continued to support them with a dollar for dollar match with Subaru of America resulting in a donation of $500 for each new Subaru sold during the annual Share The Love Event. We feel it's a small thank you for these great health care professionals, courtesy of Kevin Wong. Last year, we were able to raise over $120,000 for these nurses that were with Kevin till the very end. Help us help them this year and enjoy your new Subaru!
Did Albany Subaru go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
